Good Questions

Frequently asked

What kinds of problems does an ENT specialist treat?
Conditions of the ear (hearing, infections, vertigo), nose (allergies, sinusitis, blockage) and throat (voice, tonsils, swallowing) — plus snoring and sleep concerns. As a facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Niveditha also handles aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and nose.
Do I need a referral to book a consultation?
No referral is required. You can book directly — call Santosh Hospital for a morning slot, book through Apollo247 for an evening slot, or message on WhatsApp and we'll guide you to the right one.
What's the difference between cosmetic and functional nose surgery?
Functional surgery (e.g. septoplasty) improves breathing; cosmetic rhinoplasty changes appearance. They are often combined in a single procedure — a "septorhinoplasty" — so you breathe better and the result looks natural.
Which location should I choose?
Choose by time of day: Santosh Hospital runs mornings, 10 AM–2 PM; Apollo Speciality Hospital runs evenings, 4 PM–6 PM. Both operate Monday to Saturday. Surgical procedures are scheduled separately after consultation.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Any previous prescriptions, scans or reports (audiograms, CT scans), a list of current medications, and your questions. For aesthetic consultations, reference photos are welcome.
Are consultations available for children?
Yes. Children can be seen for common paediatric ENT concerns such as recurrent ear infections, tonsil and adenoid problems, nasal blockage, allergies and hearing concerns.
Is admission required for endoscopic procedures?
No. A diagnostic nasal endoscopy or a video laryngeal examination is an OPD procedure which takes approximately 15-20 minutes and does not require admission.

“I had a tonsillectomy surgery with Dr. Niveditha when she was working in Chennai. She did an excellent job, and my recovery was very smooth. Within 2 days, I felt much better, and within 3–4 days, I was back to my normal activities. She provided great follow-up care and was very supportive throughout the process. I am very happy with my surgery outcome and highly recommend her.”
